supporters you might want to look away for this part. in swing state virginia president obama is up by two points. in swing state new hampshire, it's president obama up by five points. in swing state pennsylvania, it's president obama up by seven points. do we still call michigan a swing state? mitt romney supporters you can drop your hands from in front of your eyes here. the latest poll in michigan has mr. obama up by four in michigan. which is a lot less than the 12-point and 14-point leads the president has also had in michigan polls there this month. but for what it's worth, i should also tell you we have national polls. for the national polls mitt romney supporters it's time for the finger vision. president obama up by five points. that's the fox news poll. the gallup dayly tracking poll had been quite close recently. now gallup shows president obama up by six. even really quite ostentatiously republican leaning rasmussen poll gives president obama a one-point advantage nationally. basically across the board in the polls that matter, in the states that matter, the obama campaign is a

in nine battleground states deciding the election. ohio, florida, virginia, colorado, iowa, wisconsin, north carolina, nevada, new hampshire. bad news for mitt romney, he doesn't lead in a single one. at best within the poll's margin of error. at worst, trails by eight points. this morning, how the nine states stack up. we said it again and again. the president's job approval rating may be the best indicator of where the bout may be. where it is more than 50, the president favored to win. iowa, florida, new hampshire, ohio, virginia, his approval rating below that, 47 or 48 in four. colorado, nevada, north carolina, wisconsin. here is a second way to breakdown the numbers. romney struggled with favorability number all year. that number underwater, more voters have unfavorable than favorable view in six states. romney is in positive territory in just three. florida, north carolina, virginia. finally, a third bucket of looking at these numbers in the extent of romney's problems. for months, romney led on who could better handle the economy. in four more, he trails the president. colorad

campaign you ask. a mailer making the rounds in northern virginia from the romney campaign touts the candidate's strategy of doing more to fight the spread of lyme disease. yes, that is a real flyer. and earlier, the obama campaign, the burmese python was a real concern for the obama campaign. a tweet from obama's press secretary ensured that residents knew the administration has banned import of the snake. now, you may laugh and there is some humor in this, but it is r very, very serious for some. ticks and snakes. because these micro targeting campaigns can really move the needle. they're important to crucial voters in crucial states like florida and virginia. ben smith, david frum, former adviser to george w. bush and corey elons. great to see you. so, you know, david, i have to say, lyme disease with so many to joke about this, it's got to be there's some crucial core of lyme disease cases and this is something people care about. turns out loudon county, northern virginia, has one of the highest rates of lyme disease in the country. could this issue really resonate? >> resona

and virginia right after the convention. i'm going to go out west to nevada and colorado and probably to florida by the end of the campaign. so, you know, i have a boring pass, i'll travel whereevery i need to go and still be mayor of san antonio and take care of my duties here. but it's a very important election to me and i want to make sure i do everything i can to re-elect the president. you're right about texas. this year i have no doubt that it's not going to go democratic. but many folks think that in the years to come, with the demographic changes, with the number of folks who are moving into texas because of the economic boom from other states, more moderate states, and importantly, because the republican party in texas, has all 29 statewide offices, the super majority in the house and almost a super majority in the texas senate and they've become far to the right. i think they're leaving the business community here in texas behind. they're leaving a whole bunch of folks behind and that's going to create the opportunity for democrats to capture not just the left but the middle
